Potion of Weakness Overview

All Potion of Weaknesses, with its status effect icon.

Potion of Weakness is a Potion that has a negative effect. The effect is Weakness. Once you use Potion of Weakness, it lowers your attack damage.

• In Minecraft Java, the Weakness effect decreases the attack by 4 (four Hearts).
• In Minecraft Bedrock, the Weakness effect decreases the attack by 1 (a half Heart).

Potion of Weakness doesn’t have a level II variant. 

How to Make the Potions

Before making Potion of Strength, make sure you make Awkward Potions first by putting Nether Wart and Water Bottles into the Brewing Stand.

Only in Minecraft Bedrock, you can use Mundane Potion to make Potion of Weakness.

Notes:

• When Brewing any Potions, make sure you put three Potions (or Water Bottles, if you try to make Awkward Potions) for the Output. 
• There are three types of Potions you can make. The first one is the basic, the second one (with + at the end of its name) comes extended duration, and level II (with increased effect power and lower time). But in this case, there are only two, the basic one and the extended duration (+).
• In-game, the extended Potion doesn’t come with + at the end of its name. It’s a mark to lets you differentiate each Potion.

1. Potion of Weakness

To make a basic Potion of Weakness, put Water Bottle (or Mundane Potion you play on bedrock) and Fermented Spider Eye into the Brewing Stand. The basic Potion of Weakness has a duration of 01:30 seconds.

To make Potion of Weakness +. Put the basic Potion of Weakness and Redstone. The Potion of Weakness + has a duration of 4 minutes.

2. Splash Potion of Weakness

The main ingredient for making Splash Potion is Gunpowder.

In Minecraft Java Edition, use Gunpowder and desired Potion (basic or +). And your Potion will be converted into Splash Potion, with all effects and durations remaining the same.

In Minecraft Bedrock, use Gunpowder and desired Potion (basic or +). All the effects remain the same, but the duration changes.

• Basic Splash Potion of Weakness: 01:07 seconds
• Splash Potion of Weakness +: 3 minutes.

3. Lingering Potion of Weakness

To make a basic Lingering Potion of Weakness, put Dragon’s Breath and a basic Splash Potion of Weakness into the Brewing Stand. The basic Lingering Potion of Weakness has a duration of 22 seconds.

Now, to make Lingering Potion of Weakness +. Put Dragon’s Breath and Splash Potion of Weakness +. The Lingering Potion of Weakness + has a duration of 1 minute.

When Lingering Potion is thrown, the lingering effect will last up to 26 seconds. The durations you see above (22 seconds and 1 minute) are for the Weakness effect and not how long lingering particles will last.
